CLICO Under15 Tournament

USA’s Abhijit Joshi, a dream came through!

.... a member of the Americas Under 15 Squad - CLICO Tournament.

It is one of the many dreams that came through for Abhijit Joshi,15, from Cricket Sporting Academy ( CSA ), Chicago and the Central East region of USACA.

He always aspired to play in the world cup matches involving many countries. He would train himself hard everyday not withstanding the pressures of school.

Now he is at the doorsteps of one such event and is all excited about his participation in the upcoming CLICO U-15 International Tournament (Mini U-15 World Cup) taking place in the Caribbean between April 19th – May 5th.

He will be one of the team members for the ICC Americas Development team.

Abhijit Joshi

Abhijit, started his cricket journey at the age of 7 under his father’s coaching who, along with his partner Ramachandran, had started Cricket Sporting Academy which is involved promoting Cricket and in coaching youth and grassroots.

In the last 6+ years, Abhijit has been trained by Greg Chappell, Ian Frazer and Chetan Chauhan (one of the most successful Test opener with S.M Gavaskar), Karsen Ghavri and Robin Singh.

Taking into account his ability and hunger to do well, CER had nominated him to attend the U-15 camp at the National Cricket Academy , Bangalore , India -- alongside India ’s U-15. He recalled that the experience was an invaluable one. He enjoyed the opportunity to see and play alongside the talent at the Cricket’s heartland.

After NCA, he continued his training with KIOC, Bangalore where he received intense training under ECB level-3 coach Irfan Sait. During this time he also played for Public School League tournament and First Division team Swastik Union of Karnataka.

Abhijit had done very well as opening batsman in many conditions and against all age groups. He has scored many 50s at a pretty good strike rate as an opener. His recent India trip was very successful too. He trip’s highest score was 91. He also is a very consistent new ball bowler. He has taken 4 wickets many times. He has bagged many MVP awards for his Batting and bowling and fielding performances.

Abhijit plays for National Cricket League and Midwest Cricket Conference (40 over league). He had played for his CER U-19 and U-15 regional teams. He played for his CE regional men’s team as well. He has captained many U-15 team outings successfully.

He has toured to Canada , Michigan , Florida , California and India . He was one of the team members of the US National U-15 team that won the first ever ICC U-15 Americas Cup.

Abhijit attributes his current success to his hard training, parents, and everybody who encouraged him and all those who gave an opportunity to learn and perform. He hopes to continue receiving the same or increased level of support in the time to come.

Abhijit, a student at Waubonsie Valley High School , Aurora , IL sincerely thanks his school teachers and Principal for supporting him on this tour. The school has arranged for him to complete his assignments ahead of time so he can focus on his game during the event in WI.

Abhijit hopes to make international friends in this trip. He also hopes to help his team perform better and win as many matches as possible. He is excited about playing against some of the best U15 teams like Pakistan .

Abhijit is also a talented Table Tennis player and has won many tournaments including Killer Spin, Chicago. He loves music and sings mostly Indian film music. His favorite subjects are math and Science although maintained overall good grades.
