Prospect High School is one of fourteen (14) High Schools that will be participating in the pilot program for Cricket in New York City Public Schools.
Most of the schools have already secured their equipment for the inaugural High Schools Cricket competition which begins April 1, 2008.
While this may be a tremendous undertaking, everything is running smoothly so far.
The United States of America Cricket Association (USACA) is assisting the program in many ways with their expertise.
In addition to providing expertise and guidance, the USACA has provided dozens of Coaching Materials, ICC Handbook, ICC Playing Conditions, the Laws of Cricket and DVDs “This is Cricket” – to the various schools and their coaches.
Several hundred more of these materials had to be ordered because of the high demand.
These materials will be distributed to the schools that have expressed interest, but are not included in this year’s pilot program.
The USACA is also providing the mattings for PSAL Competition, eight (8) in total.
Coaching classes are being held on a regular basis – spearheaded by Mr. Carlyle Miller.
The USA Cricket Umpire’s Association of New York will be providing the umpires for these games.
